Dr. Stephen R. Steele
Dr. Stephen Steele has led a life of resolute military and public service. Board Certified in Family and Sports Medicine, Dr Steele is a nationally renowned and locally distinguished physician who has served the Coachella Valley and nation for three decades.
Dr. Steele is a strong believer in holistic care and that has been the cornerstone of his practice. He supplements the traditional medical approach with lifestyle factors such as exercise, nutrition, stress reduction and manipulative medicine, when appropriate.
Most recently, Dr Steele was the Program Director for the Eisenhower Health Sports Medicine Fellowship. He also led the medical team of the Eisenhower Primary Care 365 physician group and is a past President of the Medical Staff at Eisenhower Health.
Throughout this period, Dr. Steele co-managed the Eisenhower Sports Medicine Physician Team supporting local college and high school teams. He is a former board member and Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine.
Over the last 30 years, Dr. Steele has overseen many professional sports programs in The Valley, including The American Express (formerly Bob Hope Classic) PGA event, the Galleri Classic PGA Champions Tour, ATP/WTA BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament and recently the Coachella Valley Firebirds AHL Hockey team.
A United States Navy Flight Surgeon — active duty and reservist — Captain Steele retired after 32 years of proudly serving United States Navy and Marine Corps. Deployed to Afghanistan in 2013, he served as the Medical Director of the ISAF (International Security Assistance Force). As part of this international effort, Dr Steele was responsible for medical care and Emergency Action Plan for Gen. Joseph Dunford Jr. (Commander-NATO’s Afghanistan forces) and 2000 NATO troops from 20 different countries.
“I certainly enjoy caring for the elite athletes of the world,” says Dr. Steele, “however, my true calling has been developing a relationship with my regular office patients. I particularly enjoy establishing a rapport, coaching and watching the positive changes that develop over time. By addressing the diverse needs of my patients, I can provide support that extends beyond medical treatment alone, fostering healing and wholeness in every aspect of their lives.”
Dr. Amanda Curnock
Dr. Amanda Curnock is a distinguished, board-certified physician and highly skilled internist with over two decades of experience in primary and family care. Her approach to medicine is deeply rooted in providing personalized treatment plans that address a wide array of medical conditions, promoting overall health and wellness. Dr. Curnock is passionate about empowering and educating her patients, ensuring they can make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Dr. Curnock received her medical training at the prestigious Royal London Hospital. In 1995, she made a significant move to the United States, where she completed an additional residency in Internal Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, earning the role of Chief Resident in 1998. She further specialized by completing a Geriatric Fellowship at the same institution. For a decade, Dr. Curnock successfully ran a primary care practice in the Midwest before joining Eisenhower Health in 2009. She holds board certifications in both Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine.
Dr. Curnock believes that excellent medical care is a collaborative effort between doctor and patient. She emphasizes the importance of open dialogue, mutual respect, and trust, which she considers vital for achieving quality care. Her dedication to patient care is matched by her commitment to mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals. She has served as an assistant professor at Penn State University as well as Assistant Professor at Keck School of Medicine, USC. Dr Curnock has contributed to medical textbooks, including the Cleveland Clinic Foundation's "Intensive Review of Internal Medicine", a study guide for physicians preparing for board certification. She has an MBA in Healthcare Management from La Sierra University in California.
