Dr. Stephen Steele has led a life of resolute military and public service. Board Certified in Family and Sports Medicine, Dr Steele is a nationally renowned and locally distinguished physician who has served the Coachella Valley and nation for three decades.
Dr. Steele is a strong believer in holistic care and that has been the cornerstone of his practice. He supplements the traditional medical approach with lifestyle factors such as exercise, nutrition, stress reduction and manipulative medicine, when appropriate.
Most recently, Dr Steele was the Program Director for the Eisenhower Health Sports Medicine Fellowship. He also led the medical team of the Eisenhower Primary Care 365 physician group and is a past President of the Medical Staff at Eisenhower Health.
Throughout this period, Dr. Steele co-managed the Eisenhower Sports Medicine Physician Team supporting local college and high school teams. He is a former board member and Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine.
Over the last 30 years, Dr. Steele has overseen many professional sports programs in The Valley, including The American Express (formerly Bob Hope Classic) PGA event, the Galleri Classic PGA Champions Tour, ATP/WTA BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament and recently the Coachella Valley Firebirds AHL Hockey team.
A United States Navy Flight Surgeon — active duty and reservist — Captain Steele retired after 32 years of proudly serving United States Navy and Marine Corps. Deployed to Afghanistan in 2013, he served as the Medical Director of the ISAF (International Security Assistance Force). As part of this international effort, Dr Steele was responsible for medical care and Emergency Action Plan for Gen. Joseph Dunford Jr. (Commander-NATO’s Afghanistan forces) and 2000 NATO troops from 20 different countries.
“I certainly enjoy caring for the elite athletes of the world,” says Dr. Steele, “however, my true calling has been developing a relationship with my regular office patients. I particularly enjoy establishing a rapport, coaching and watching the positive changes that develop over time. By addressing the diverse needs of my patients, I can provide support that extends beyond medical treatment alone, fostering healing and wholeness in every aspect of their lives.”
