Dr. Jerry Fain is renowned as one of the foremost hematologist-oncologists in the country. As a physician he strives to care for patients as he would care for his family, and is perhaps best known for his empathic approach to medicine.
In recognition of his clinical excellence, Dr. Fain has earned numerous awards and accolades throughout his career such as being recognized as A Super Doctor by Texas Monthly and a Top Doctor by Austin Monthly since their inception. He is also nationally acclaimed for his research in the fields of oncology and hematology, having published his findings in several prestigious medical journals and given lectures across the country.
Dr. Fain earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston. He then trained in internal medicine at the Methodist Medical Center in Dallas and was Chief Medical Resident at Methodist Hospital. After completing a 3-year fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology and rising to the rank of Chief Fellow at UT Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Fain began his career as an attending physician at Southwest Regional Cancer Center in Austin. He would hold this role for nearly a decade before accepting a position at Texas Oncology.
Dr. Fain’s clinical interests and expertise lie in all aspects of internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology, and he is uniquely board-certified in all three specialties. To stay up-to-date on developments, Dr. Fain maintains professional memberships in the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, and the American College of Physicians, among others.
