Duane Pearson, MD

Dr. Duane Pearson, a prominent rheumatologist and internist with over two decades of experience, is lauded by peers and patients alike for his clinical acumen, empathic approach to patient care, and above all, his devotion to teaching and mentoring.

Dr. Pearson earned his undergraduate degree in economics and biology from Lake Forest College and his Medical Doctorate from University of California Davis, where he graduated with multiple honors. From there, he trained in Internal Medicine at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, followed by a 3-year fellowship in Rheumatology, receiving the Distinguished Fellow Award and multiple research grants from the American College of Rheumatology and the Arthritis Foundation.

Upon completing his fellowship, he spent six years as the Chief of Rheumatology, Clinical Educator, and Medical Director for specialty services at Ventura County Medical Center. Returning to Colorado, he assumed the role of Associate Division Head of Clinical Practice for the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CUSOM) and conducted research on new care delivery models. Through his work and contributions, he rose to the rank of Professor and served as Division Head. He is a co-founder of the Peer Mentored Care Collaborative, Project Core, the first Medical Director for ECHO Colorado and the recipient of the Department of Medicine Innovator Award for his work during the COVID pandemic.

Dr. Pearson is well-known for his innovative work in healthcare delivery models, having published his findings in several prestigious medical journals and given lectures and presentations at conferences across the country.

He has been board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology and is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology.
