With over two decades of experience in pulmonary and critical care medicine, Dr. Duhamel is a nationally recognized leader in interventional pulmonology and oncology. He was the first to successfully perform Bronchial Thermoplasty for severe asthma and administer the Zephyr Valve Procedure for advanced emphysema—setting new standards in respiratory care. Before joining MD², he co- founded PMA Health, advancing patient-centered care through innovative diagnostics and therapies. He also served as Director of the Lung Cancer Center and Director of Pulmonary Special Procedures at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington.
At MD², Dr. Duhamel is a primary care physician deeply committed to caring for the whole person. He leverages his clinical expertise to identify key health concerns. He works in close partnership with patients to support their overall health and wellness—not just during times of illness but throughout every stage of life. Known for his emotional support and steadfast availability, Dr. Duhamel builds strong, trusting relationships that empower patients to feel confident, cared for, and actively engaged in their lifelong health journey.
Dr. Duhamel completed his fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, following his tenure as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University Hospital, where he also earned his medical degree. His academic foundation in biology, graduating Cum Laude from Georgetown University, laid the groundwork for a career defined by intellectual rigor and humanistic care.
A dedicated educator, Dr. Duhamel holds a long-standing appointment as Clinical Associate Professor at Georgetown University Hospital, mentoring the next generation of physicians in the art and science of medicine. He is also the author of the Clinical Atlas of Airway Diseases, a widely used resource among medical students and trainees.
Dr. Duhamel is a multi-year recipient of the prestigious Top Doctor award, recognized by Castle Connolly and The Washingtonian for his excellence in patient care and clinical leadership.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Duhamel is a skilled craftsman who enjoys woodworking and cabinet making. He’s an avid outdoorsman who loves camping and backpacking with his children, and he finds joy in cooking and entertaining friends and family.
