Dr. Damion Martins is board-certified in internal medicine and sports medicine and is renowned for his thought leadership in longevity, sports cardiology, orthopedics and human performance. His expertise lent itself to the development of cardiovascular training programs widely used in the fitness industry and corporate wellness today. He has authored over 50 publications and lectures extensively on these topics and in recognition of his advancements in these fields, he is consistently recognized as a “Top Doctor” by Castle Connolly.
Dr. Martins received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he also obtained his Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Biophysics. He completed residency training in internal medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center and his fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Maryland, where he served as fellow team physician for the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens and University of Maryland’s Terrapins.
Prior to joining MD2, Dr. Martins established and directed the Executive Health Program, Sports Medicine department, and the Sports Medicine Fellowship at Atlantic Health System. He also held dual academic appointments at Mount Sinai School of Medicine as assistant clinical professor in the departments of both medicine and orthopedics and is currently a clinical assistant professor of medicine at Thomas Jefferson University. In addition to his clinical and academic appointments, Dr. Martins remains the Director of Internal Medicine and Team Physician for the New York Jets, and the medical advisor for New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association. Previously, he also served as the National Hockey League (NHL) Team Physician and Administrative Medical Director for Major League Soccer (MLS).
