Brandon Combs, MD, FACP

Cherry Creek North

Dr. Brandon Combs is a board-certified internist known for his thoughtful, evidence-based approach to patient care. He believes that medicine should be grounded in science and guided by compassion, practicality, and intention—always tailored to the unique needs and goals of each patient. Dr. Combs works closely with individuals to help them make informed decisions and receive care that supports their health and well-being, while avoiding interventions unlikely to offer meaningful benefit.

A graduate of Saint Louis University School of Medicine, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Dr. Combs completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado. He has been on faculty at the University of Colorado School of Medicine since 2010, achieving the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine. His clinical appointments have included the University of Colorado Hospital and the Denver Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Since 2010, he has worked extensively with medical students and residents, mentoring the next generation of physicians.

A Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Combs has been recognized both locally and nationally for his clinical excellence and educational leadership. His honors include multiple Clinical Excellence Awards from the CU School of Medicine, recognition as one of Denver’s Top Doctors in Internal Medicine, and Clinician-Educator of the Year by the Society of General Internal Medicine. His scholarly work—focused on optimizing care and reducing unnecessary health interventions—has also earned national recognition. He co-founded the Teachable Moment section in JAMA Internal Medicine where he was also an editor from 2013-2025.

Deeply committed to medical education, Dr. Combs has received awards for his teaching and mentorship, and has served as a Visiting Professor at the University of Zimbabwe, promoting cross-cultural collaboration in medical education and improving patient care with best evidence. He was previously Senior Fellow for Medical Education at the Lown Institute and served as the Associate Director of Evidence Based Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine from 2016-2025.

Outside of medicine, he loves hiking, biking, and traveling with his wife and three young children, spending as much time as possible outdoors in Colorado.
