Dr. Amy Markezich is an internist and pulmonologist who brings with her over two decades of expertise. Prior to MD2, she served as a pulmonologist, critical care medicine specialist and medical director at Overlake Medical Center & Clinics in Bellevue, Washington.
Dr. Markezich’s career began at Stanford University where she graduated with two bachelor’s degrees, after which she earned her Medical Doctorate at Stanford School of Medicine. She further honed her skills through rigorous residencies in Internal Medicine at both Stanford Medical Center and at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Her commitment to specialized medicine led her to pursue a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Harvard Medical School. She is board-certified in all three disciplines – a rare and remarkable accomplishment.
As a physician specializing in pulmonary and critical care medicine, Dr. Markezich played a pivotal role at Overlake Medical Clinics for over 15 years. Notably, she served as the Medical Director of Medical Specialties at Overlake Clinics in Bellevue. In this capacity, she demonstrated exceptional leadership while overseeing in-patient and out-patient services.
Dr. Markezich’s passion for medicine extends beyond clinical practice. She has assumed multiple committee positions at Overlake, served as an elected Overlake Hospital Medical Staff officer, and contributes as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Washington State University School of Medicine. She is renowned for her expansive research and publications on treating lung-related conditions, which has made her an invaluable physician, leader and teacher on a national level.
Dr. Markezich has received numerous honors and awards throughout her career, including being recognized as a Seattle Met Magazine Top Doctor for nearly a decade. Her passion for teaching was acknowledged with the Excellence in Teaching Award from Stanford University’s Department of Biological Sciences. In addition, Dr. Markezich was a collegiate All-American athlete while competing in synchronized swimming for Stanford University.
