Dr. Claudia Tellez
Dr. Claudia Tellez, a triple board-certified internist and hematologist-oncologist, is beloved by her patients and peers for her empathy, expertise, and passion for healing.
She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois, Chicago. Her postgraduate training included a residency in internal medicine, followed by a fellowship in hematology-oncology, both at Northwestern University’s McGaw Medical Center.
During her 28-year tenure at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Dr. Tellez made a significant impact on her medical community. She is known for her unwavering dedication to patient care and her tireless efforts to advance medical research. Her work has spanned topics such as Blood disorders, hematologist malignancies and work in all stages of Breast cancer and she is passionate about helping patients through their cancer care journey. Dr Tellez is a frequent contributor to national and international media on health-related issues.
Dr. Tellez is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine and is dedicated to ongoing education and generously shares her expertise with the next generation of healthcare professionals. Her active participation in teaching sessions with medical students, residents, and oncology fellows underscores her dedication to fostering knowledge and excellence. Notably, her contributions extend to the Breast Cancer Tumor Board Teaching Conference, where she collaborates with colleagues to enhance understanding and patient care. Whether engaging in treatment discussions or mentoring aspiring physicians, her impact is profound.
As a native of Colombia, one of her most treasured accomplishments is having launched the Lurie Cancer Center Hispanic Breast Cancer Clinic at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Evan Lu
Dr. Evan Lu is a board-certified doctor of Internal Medicine. He brings over two decades of experience and unwavering dedication to patient care. Dr. Lu’s medical journey began at the University of Wisconsin where he graduated with distinction and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He then completed his internal medicine residency training at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University. In 2000, he joined the faculty of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine. In addition to patient care, he taught medical students and supervised doctors in training. He rose to the rank of Assistant Professor of Medicine in 2008.
Prior to joining MD², Dr. Lu has practiced primary care for over 20 years in the Northwestern Medicine system. He is on the medical staff of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. Dr. Lu’s dedication to providing compassionate, expert care for his patients has made him a beloved and respected physician in the Northwestern medical community. He has held leadership positions at Northwestern Medicine, serving on the Primary Care and Quality Oversight committees. At both the clinical and administrative levels, his tireless efforts contributed significantly to the delivery of high-quality healthcare.
Dr. Lu’s commitment to medicine extends beyond clinical practice. In addition to patient care, Dr. Lu has been active in teaching medical students for many years. As an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University, he continues to participate in teaching the next generation of physicians. His devotion to teaching earned him numerous teaching awards and recognition from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
